Biography

Dr. Fernando Trespalacios has been in private practice since 2004 in the Miami area. He is Medical Director at Fresenius Medical Care Metropolitan Dialysis Center in Miami. He currently resides in Miami, Florida and is a partner in Nephrology Associates of South Miami, a private nephrology group. Dr. Trespalacios is affiliated with various other dialysis centers and hospitals in Miami-Dade County, Florida. He is board certified in Nephrology. He was an active duty Army physician from 1995 to 2004 where he completed internship and residency in Internal Medicine, Fellowship in Nephrology, and practiced as a general internist as well as nephrologist. He received a full and an honorable discharge in 2004, having reached the rank of Major. Dr. Trespalacios has held appointments as Instructor in Medicine (Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences) and is currently associated with Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine as a voluntary Clinical Assistant professor of Medicine.

Education

He received a Bachelor of Science from the University if Miami and his MD degree from the Universidad Central del Caribe in Puerto Rico in 1995. His postgraduate training in Internal Medicine and Nephrology were completed at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii and Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. respectively. He was additionally appointed Chief Nephrology Fellow.

Achievements

He has presented and published research work on the subjects of Nephrology and infectious diseases He participated as an investigator and a medical monitor in several trials at United States Army Medical Research Institute for Infectious Diseases. He is presently actively participating as principal investigator in several clinical trials in association with International Physicians Research. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine in Nephrology. He holds membership in various professional associations including Renal Physicians Association, American Society of Nephrology, National Kidney Foundation, and the Florida Nephrology Society.
